The Other Open Roads.....

Got a very lucky find today. Received a 5 hat lot from ebay that I knew had a Disney in it. Turns out to be an Open Road style called the Ranger.

The hat is a 7 3/8, medium grey with a black thin ribbon and wind trolley. Both the crown and brim are a fairly stiff felt. But it feels nice. You can work the crown crease pretty well. Brim is 2 1/4" with a grey binding.

There is a hat on EBay right now that looks like a clone made by BEE hats. Looks good. An amazing number of hat makers appear to have had their own version of the OR!

Here's an earlier version of the same style. I bought it off ebay, it was too small, so I resold it to a Lounger.


Note the WW2 era 'Ceiling Price' on the tag a la johnnyphi's Schobles, so early to mid 1940s for this one. A bit confusing on size, as the tag says 6 7/8 but the interior 7.

Churchill Beaver 35

I see that Churchill is followed by a question mark in the list.
Here's one. It's a Churchill 35 with very nice, fine, kinda stiff
felt. A bit like the felt on the Cavanagh 100 I just posted in the
Conversion Corral. A nice hat, if I do say so myself.

Resistol "Dalworth"

Here is the hat I bought on eBay last year for $11. It is a 1960s vintage, cattleman's crease. It is marked "Hand creased" and "Style - Dalworth" inside the band. I have asked before and no one seems to have heard of this style from Resistol but the markings are quite clear. This was a real score - in the original box and it looked like it had never been worn.
