That's lovley but I don't get why it would go so high. I've seen a few 30's evening gowns and some designer patterns sell for that but never day dress pattern.

I've seen VERY similar patterns go for much less than that, maybe it was someone wanting it for a wedding dress pattern and it got a bit heated.

Jeebus!
It's a gorgeous pattern, but not that unusual that I would pay that much for it! I am sure whover bought it would hae been able to find a similar one for much les. :eusa_doh:

Laura Chase - What a shame, that dress would be so cute for fall/winter! I really like the small red dots/berries on it.

Oh no!!! I feel your pain. That's gorgeous.

Yeah, I loved it too, but I couldn't afford it. Also, I forgot about it, but it was good because I really could't afford it... :( Sigh.

When do you think it's from? The seller's photos aren't that good, so you can't see the details in the front (there seem to be some sort of pleats on the breast?), but I was thinking the last half of the 30's...

I agree. It looks late 30's to me. It could have possibly been made over from an earlier dress- the hemline could have been shortened. The buckle looks earlier to me than the style of dress as it. It's really super cute! And I know what you mean about it being a good thing missing auctions ;) It's so easy to get caught up in the heat of the moment... hehe. I'm guilty.

I was a nincompoop

I lost these gorgeously gorgeous eyeglasses because at the last moment of bidding I hit the...wrong...darned...button!! I was willing to pay more (they went for 34 bucks) and I tried to console myself by saying it just wasn't meant to be......but deepdown I was truly heartbroken. :(

I found a similar pair, for even less money....but still.....

Whoever won these...if you are out there...take good care of my babies.:(

I'm really upset at losing this one. It was just a few minutes before it ended and the power went out with a storm.

Don't be sad!! I just got this in a size 20 off ebay----I always copy my patterns, and I will *happily* send you a copy for free. I just need some time to finish the project I am working on and then I will hop to it. Is there a way to get your address?

Oh, wow! Size 20 would mean I wouldn't have to grade it up, too. I'll give it to you in a DM.

edit: I can't seem to send you a DM. Why don't you give me your addy in a comment on my blog. I won't make it public ;) http://newvintage.wordpress.com/

I should have bid higher but I've never made a jacket before and am not sure if I could. I don't want to bid alot ifI am not sure I'll use the pattern.

I was watching this one for DAYS!!!!!! I missed it by seconds, .50 cents!
If this item was won by someone on this thread, would you be so kind to make me a copy so I don't have to take a pattern construction class.
