Sort of reminds me of the Navajo trying to domesticate the Red Wolf.

I'm fascinated by this Victorian era walking cane. Sharp dressed man.

It must be made of knotty blackthorn like a Shillelaghs. Looks like melted wax.

Thinking about Saint Patrick's Day, Derbys & canes has made me think about being in the famous Rosso's Walking Cane Club in Omaha, NE a few times. The building was from the late 1800's - early 1900's, built as an opera house with a big stage & all. By the time this pic was taken in 1939 it was a burlesque house with several shows a wk. The neon marguee has changed to a top hat & swirling cane, but the last time I was in town the now Walking Cane Tavern was still open.

Just a few blocks away was the Dreamland Ballroom (upstairs), & Tuxedo Pool & Billiard Hall. Only the top players from around the country were allowed in Tuxedos.
