Jim Leavelle, the Dallas detective who was handcuffed to Oswald when he was shot by Jack Ruby, has passed at age 99.

They have the outfit he wore on that day at the Sixth Floor museum, and it's a dead ringer for my beater Resistol.
Be careful who you get handcuffed to.

Met some Ohio cousins at a family reunion down here many years ago and had to ask my mom what a soda was. I kept saying but that's a "coke".
Interestingly, there's a map that shows distribution of the terms coke, pop and soda.
Coke in the southeast ( except for parts of Florida with northeastern transplants) and Texas, Pop in midwest and upper west, and Soda in Northeast and California.

I used to go with my Grandma to Walt's Pop Dock to get a variety of off-brand sodas here in the mid-west. No Cokes -- they were too expensive. I called them soda-pops. She was originally from Philly though, which might explain the "soda" side of that.

My dad said soda pop, sometimes pop for short. I'm inclined to say soda.

Dad was born in Oregon; Washington for me.
