Here's a picture that I found on ETSY. Its fantastic. I would toss out a guess that this picture dates to around 1915-1918 when the tall porkpie look was very in style. If you take a look at the American Hatter publications from 1915-1918, you'll see some of the latest fashions in hats included shorter curled brims and tall porkpie crowns. Since this person appears to be a young man when the picture was taken, I would imagine he would be "in" with what was in fashion at the time. This hat looks VERY much like my Stetson Pacemaker. My Pacemaker has a very faint crease line that shows that the hat had a tall porkpie crease for a very long time.
