From a "New Yorker" article on Wyoming photographer Lora Webb Nichols. https://www.newyorker.com/culture/p...ord-of-wyoming-in-the-early-twentieth-century
Colorized photo from 1922 of what was likely a training session during Prohibition when dogs were trained to sniff out whiskey.

Sorry, but no cigar or Norman Rockwell. Here is the original B/W photo dated 1922, along with another taken minutes before/after.Nice but an English estimate is the photo resembles a Norman Rockwell to such extent that it must be real.
A law enforcement training image, no too precious a look.
These are great shots......I wondered if they were not comments on the dog wanting a sip too.Sorry, but no cigar or Norman Rockwell. Here is the original B/W photo dated 1922, along with another taken minutes before/after.

I had both a horse and a Scottish Shetland (they are like mini draft horses, very stout build, bred to pull ore carts in mines) that liked beer.......a LOT.

No, the colorized version was done by a dog breeders group. They were discussing the Golden Retriever which wasn’t well established in North America until ~1920, & how the breed has changed to how we know it today. Much like the difference today in the American Labrador Retriever with its tall stance, short coat, delta shaped head & long snout vs the English Labrador Retriever with its shorter stance, longer curly coat & wide blocky head.Did you do the colorizing?
