Great photo! What I found interesting is that all but two of these Texans are wearing hats (one has it in his lap & the other likely has one somewhere close by) but I only see one pair of boots - all the rest are low-quarter shoes. And the only pair of boots are lace-up boots like modern Ropers.

a tremendous photo of the "spit and whittle" club in downtown Whitney, Texas back in 1949. It comes from an article that appeared in Life magazine.
