After showing posting pics of me in vintage clothing or walking around in it I always get comments like: ' It's good to see even young people are interested in the era'. And then it's bothers me that I know nobody in my age who also likes the 30s and 40s. So why not search for them here?

Now this thread should be only for loungers under 18 and if you are, it would great if you could tell something about you and if you like post your ICQ or MSN number/address. A pic of you would be great, too.

Well, I'll start:

My real name is Henrik and I'm turning 16 in a few weeks.

My ICQ-number is: 313-972-683

That is spectacular

You look the perfect vintage Gentleman! In five years, I shall buy you a drink;)

I am very happy to see young guys like you here on the Lounge. Often, when looking at avitars...it is not the true picture of the member. I was suprised at how much nicer you look in your coat and hat, and maybe you should consider posting your real image insteat of the movie clip.

Anyway, you guys are great!

Looking very Dr. Jones, Indiana that is. Real Sharp. Glad to see a young gentleman dressing properly. Keep up the good work. I bet you have to beat the skirts off with a stick but who would want to. Again, good show.

so- today was "decade day" at school.

while most everyone else dressed eighties (girls wearing leg warmers, neon tights, sweatshirts with the neck slashed to the sleve, :eusa_doh: ) I dressed vintage.

Champ featherweight hat
'30's brown silk tie with an abstract floral design
vintage brown wool vest
dark grey dress pants (new)
white shirt with the sleeves rolled up
PF flyers ringside shoes.

I looked pretty decent.

I saw a few really cheap wool fedoras. It bugged me, because the wearer of one had the hat in an open crown. each time the dents would pop in on their own, they would take the hat off, and unbash it.

A friend of mine made her own clothes for today. She dresses punk/rockabilly, and she made herself a leopard print pencil skirt, with a vintage top, and a leopard bow in her hair. She looked pretty good too.

I'm one of the younger people here myself, Steven, aged 17 years last Friday. I don't have any true vintage style yet, aside from a fedora and vintage-inspired clothing; but when funds permit and need justifies, I'll be getting further into the vintage market. No good photos of myself lying around, I'll have to find one.

You know, he is in Germany, so when he is 16 he can drink beer and wine. You might have to buy that drink sooner than you think!

Anyway, welcome to the younger loungers. I am probably old enough to be your mom, but I wore vintage to high school myself. Well let me rephrase that. I either wore 40's and 50's vintage, or really wild 80's fashions that were inspired by the 40's. As a result, I had relatively few friends. But, since I was so weird at least I knew they were real friends.

So, do you guys get beat up at school, or does everyone let you do your own thing?

I guess I'll pop in for my Bro. No. 3, aged 16. He's not online much, except to play "Call of Duty" with Bro. No. 2 away at college.

But he's definitely a vintage-styled sorta guy, mainly in the hat department. There are over a dozen hats hanging on the walls of his bedroom, running the gamut from Civil War to World War II, Soviet, and beyond. A family friend in his 80s died several years ago, and his widow gave his hats to my brother. He always wears them to classes and to choir as well as church. (He's homeschooled.) When the choir goes on tour, he's the one with the hat and trench coat wandering around Chicago, D.C., or New York. ;)

He's outgrown some of his hats, unforunately. We all have big heads. And apparently the Really Big fedora (much too big for me, and I'm 23.5) we collaboratively bought at an antique mall years ago for $10 (!) has evaportated into the aether. :(

I'm with Steve on this one. I'm turing 18 in about a month. I really don't have the money to go entirely vintage. Also, my current location doesn't seem to like kids wearing vinatage/ vintage style clothing. I am used to the regular ridicule from the other kids. (I frankly don't care though, they don't have a good sense of style. ) But it's when I held door and tipped my hat to an elderly couple, the man said, "Don't disgrace the fedora you punk." Maybe I should move out to Germany. I liked the country when I was there, it would be nice to go somewhere where people appreciate good clothing.

Good point, I just turned 16 last sunday!;)

BTW- Phil I don't know if would be better for you here in Germany? Most people in my age here hip hop or punk, so you can imagine how they dress. For sure, I sometimes get bad comments and many people look a bit strange at me when they see me coming down the street in a dark long DB coat and a 40s fedora, but my friends all say they like that I don't care what other wear.
More funny is that two buddies of mine think that simply the word vintage sounds funny.[huh] lol

Henrik

I know you are trying to encourge the young to use this thread, but many of us are just happy to see you here, it is very encouraging! I am the mother of 10 & 11 year-old boys and trying to instill some old fashioned sensibilities into their young minds. Hopefully, raising some future FL members. I have caught my younger one steppin' it out to Billy Holiday, so all is not lost:)
