I'm not a fan of the Aeromarine to begin with but this to my eyes is bloody unflattering. The fit and sizing doesn't help - looks in that front on shot almost like some fetish quasi-bolero jacket.

Definitely not my favourite of Aero's new offerings.

Well put, Cobber. Couldn't agree more with the bolero comparison. Actually so many short jackets remind me of just that.

You may get your wish tomorrow. It's a used black custom flight jacket. I have to take measurements and pics to see if I want them to add a half inch or so to the chest. I'll be asking the experts here if it's too tight or just right. Best cowhide I've seen yet, I really love it but would wear it a lot if it were a scosh more comfy. We'll see. Visually there's little to distinguish it from say.. a Schott but the interior craftsmanship, feel of the leather and stitching puts it in Vanson, Aero territory easily. It's clearly made for riding... not posing. Previous owner broke it in nicely but every once in a while I catch a whiff of Chesterfields or Lucky Strikes.

Could be worse. Friend once bought a jacket that gave out a distinct whiff of weed. Evrntually we found a neatly tailored hole in the lining (clearly not the original lining), and therein was, eh... a stash. Quickly dumped in a bin in the West End!

Sorry Fanch... I'll yield to you knowledge of the SouthWest BUT Stony Brook AIN'T New York City! They've got a nice state college there pine barrens and roads... that's about it.

Just sayin'...

Sorry Edward - I wasn't clear. Did you dump the stash or the jacket?

Jackets were made this short so bikers, pilots, cowboys, truckers could sit and the jacket wouldn't roll over their lap, get stuck under their ass and hinder riding, flying, driving. Like it or not, this is how they were worn and why.

Yeah. Neither of us is a toker (I've got a fairly low tolerance for that sort of thing. Hate the idea of it being rebellious. What threat is anyone to the evils of The System if you're ahff yer hied?). That.... and both being law academics, well... you can see where that could have been professionally embarrassing.

Sorry Edward - I wasn't clear. Did you dump the stash or the jacket?

The stash! The jacket is still being worn.

And...where exactly did he dump it? :D

Ha.... as memory serves, it was a bin on the top of Leicester Square. I'm pretty sure, nearly fifteen years later, they'll have cleared it out....).

My favourite leather jackets are mostly quite short. I love the look, myself. Quite likely a Brando / Ramone / Han Solo thing...

Yeah me too. Shorter jackets are far more flattering, no matter your shape. It just takes a bit of courage and the results are well worth it.

Ah, I was a bit confused too...thought you were so freaked out that you took a dump in a bin...for such purposes a longer coat is far more discreet than a short jacket.

Always fun to see someone rocking the "western" silver collar points (visible under jacket in one photo). I've usually got to drive to Tijuana to see those in action. If there's no reincarnation, I'll miss his unique interpretations of western wear, "cowboy classic" seen through a U.K. lens. Frank

Had to re-read this 3 times to figure out what you were on about... I always wondered what "real" westerners thought of "Cowboy Chic". Thanks for the clue-in.

Errr...

You're closer to NYC THAN I AM NOW! But I was born and raised in the "40 Projects" of New York, in South Jamaica, Queens. I might've been a "B&T" to the Manhattan froo froos but what was ours... was ours. I didn't commute... I lived there till I could claw my way out at age 17.

Well one thing, short or long, jackets don't flatter the guys with guts unless they're wearing an A-2, Highwayman or other, more forgiving model.
I kept blaming jackets until I dropped the mid-section. If you're going with a slim-fit, you best cut a decent profile. Not saying you need to be "in shape" or a model, just not carrying a huge bulge.

As I recall Butte dropped a good bit of weight not too long ago and is currently a lean, mean fighting machine! :D

Bit of a Marmite love it/hate it thing going on here.:D But we're fortunate that makers are sticking their necks out to do something markedly different and risk having us bump our gums about it, rather than just sticking with the same old same old [huh]. Personally, I thought MM's fit was closer to an A-1 in feel though.

As others have noted..to each their own.
The jacket actually looks OK in body length to me...if going for a Lee's 101J type fit. As it's a blue jacket...I can see it.
I'd actually prefer it about an inch to inch and a half longer but it does cover the belt line which is my ultimate line of demarcation.
Sleeve length looks to be right where I like mine.

When we get the chance today, we'll put up some photos of an Aero Aeromarine with some added body length on our Affiliate Thread... I think you guys will like it a lot! The Aero Aeromarine is an absolutely beautiful design that is very versatile, yet classic!

Want to thank Simonc for being so kind as to show pictures of the Aeronautical. Many liked the jacket; others did not. If not, there is always a diplomatic way of saying so without being overtly rude and obnoxious. IMO there is no reason ever to post an opinion on any forum showing total disregard for someone's purchase expensive or not.
