Geez ol' Pete. This last Month (or so) has been a real hell in our household. MY 92 year old Mom (dementia) has been going off into the "twilight zone" more often, and let me tell you, it is hard to deal with. She goes days on end, non stop talking, muttering to imaginary people in her room, gets herself dressed to go some place, at 2 a.m. and thinks they are "here to take her dancing now"....have had to rush her to the ER at the local Hospital, and she goes for days without sleeping just sputtering in conversation with all her imaginary friends.... Just now getting that under control, but then the other side of the events...Daniel. He was doing a lot better with everything, had developed an enlarged right heart chamber, and had some tumors growing in scar tissue from his last operation. So he is a bundle of raw pain from all they have had to do to fix him up. My nerves are about as shot as they can get....it has been a "Single Malt Scotch" day....every day for over a Month now. Daniel still has such a sense of humor and determination to heal up. While he was in the Hospital, some Nurse dropped something on the floor in his room, and as she bent over to clean it up, he said to her" You may need to use some Bon-ami to make that floor sparkle again"....always wanting to see people smile. He also asked if they wanted him to "autograph" his stainless steel Bed Pan for them to have as a sovnienier! Nope thank you was all they said! LOL!

Now I hope for the most part, things can get back to normal. If they will ever be "normal" again!

Love is most nearly itself
When here and now cease to matter.
...We must be still and still moving
Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion...

All the best and hope Luv.:)

You have my sympathies. I can remember still when I was in college, my cousins and I would take turns on the weekends caring for my grandmother so our parents could get a break. My grandparents had 80 acres of farm and she would, like your mom, get up in the middle of the night and get dressed and head out to the fields.
I wish I could offer you more words of comfort, but unfortunately this IS the new normal, for now at least for now. Then it will be a different normal. You'll pull through, I'm sure, because you have Daniel's love (and a little scotch in the house) to keep you going.

I have no idea of how difficult all of this must be for you right now. But you appear to have two of the main character elements that will help you through - tenacity and a sense of humor. Another key to surviving and remaining sane is being able to share your difficulties and vent to others around you during this time; people who care about how you're doing and will listen without judgement or the need to offer "solutions". Again, you seem to possess that quality. I enjoy reading your posts and wish you and your family the best.

And your handle "LuvMyMan" speaks volumes.

Sorry to hear about your month from hell.

This month was particularly bad for my family too- we lost a good friend (at 46, unexpectedly) and I had a cancer recurrence scare (which I knew wasn't a recurrence, but a stress, nonetheless). But on the flip side my husband and I got some wonderful news about something which I thought would never happen.

I see this post more as a personal blog sort of thing and so I am going to cut it off.

Otherwise we would be overrun with diary-like entries, and that is not what we are here for.
