Mallory Ten "Commander." In looking around, I can find little information on this model. The Mallory MADness thread has an ad dating from 1945 showing the Commander, and @Richard Morgan has an unlined version. Since this one doesn't have the normal liner tip, there is no clue from the 1823/1817 designation. I cannot post a photo of the reorder tag; it's buried too deep into the sweatband stitching, but I believe the Union tag as a slanted "bug," which is the older variety. It was originally purchased at Mabley & Carew in Cincinnati, which was a department store that had a life from the turn of the 20th Century until the late 70s. I found this in a lot with several other hats labeled 7 1/8 and 7 1/4. Fortunately, a slight nudge of about a millimeter made this one a great fit.

Whew, finally I'm able to share this lid. Here's a Mallory "Ten" I just picked up, alongside another awesome "Ten"!. The olive green/copper color combo is just amazing, and more versatile than many would think. The felt on this hat is just sound, as expected from a Mallory of this era. Honestly, I can't really note any flaws other than the stupid signature of a previous owner...., anyways here are the pics!

Searching the innards of the hat, I found this hat union label. Not sure of the date range of this particular label, but knowing that this is a 40's hat and because of the updated establishment date on the crest, this is most definitely post-1946.

EDIT: pics are a little bright, sorry bout that. I suppose this is a shining star

That's a real beauty Mondo. The brim binding is really cool. Definately post Stetson buyout in '46 and the tip protector appears to be oilskin instead of clear plastic so that would put it pre 53.

excellent find Jim. The liner logo is just like the tip logo on the unlined one I had, gone on the another lounger a couple of months ago. I believe the white cloth size tag is a clue. That seems to be a pre-Stetson feature or one that was only carried over a short time by Stetson, most likely just to use up stock of existing size tags. Whatever the age, that's a sweet lid.

There is one ad for a Commander here in the mile - from 1945. I can't find it now but I referenced it when I first posted my Commander.

WW1 Era Mallory "Beaver Brush Finish"

Mallory fifteen homburg in grey. Size 7 in the classic colour combination of grey hat, black ribbon and light coloured brim binding, with a warmer coloured brim binding on this one. The brim is wider at 6,5cm and the crown sits at 11cm at the center dent. It does have a sleek and slender look to it, which I find very appealing. Here the brim curl and binding is as tight and straight as it gets, but less inward facing than on European hats. That is a style choice however. The felt and finishing are outstanding. Very understated with just a slightly slanted bow keeper as a little flourish. Love this hat and many thanks go out to Brent (@deadlyhandsome) for finding this one for me.

I just got lucky in an antiques mall yesterday and acquired this very fine fawn Mallory "Coast to Coast". Since 1823 label.

Pretty sure it was dead stock, shows no signs of wear, possibly display. Elusive 7 and 3/8 size, which fits me perfectly, as 7 1/4 sometimes is too small and 7 1/2 is usually to large or loose. Needed some blocking, which I did this morning.

Wasn't aware of the marque before, but the fine quality fur felt was obvious and I loved the high crown and 2.75 inch brim. Best of all, wife approved.
