Well, I've been meaning to do this for a while, but now that the anniversary has arrived, I figured I should just do it. I'm making a new thread in tribute to my most favorite and most loyal hat. I hope nobody minds.
This is my Akubra Federation regular. Mid-brown, purchased from hatsdirect exactly year ago. I could never have asked for a better hat. Although it's only been a year, the hat has followed me on countless adventures. I've worn it close to every day for the past year.
I originally gave it a bash to reflect the hat in Raiders of the Lost Ark. I felt that I needed an Indy hat for my collection, and the Federation filled that spot perfectly.
The poor thing has been trampled to death and has taken it all like a soldier.
Some of the things it has been through - and I kid you not:
Just recently, I felt that the Raiders hat didn't fit my face as well as it could. So, after some thought, I converted the hat into a Last Crusade style. I think this style looks much better on me - and the hat.
Over the course of it's life, the hat has recieved extensive modifications from me:
Let me stop myself before I carry on for too long. I could go all day about this hat, I really could.
Pictures. Please enjoy.
First recieved - open crown.
Newly bashed
After a month or two
More recently
After a particularly long adventure.

The poor thing has been trampled to death and has taken it all like a soldier.
Some of the things it has been through - and I kid you not:
- Buried in dirt
- Sat on countless times
- Crumpled into a little ball
- Crushed by a mattress overnight
- Beaten with a stick (unfortunatley, while it was on my head)
- Smeared in grass
- Soaked through in rainstorms
- Run over by a Volkswagen

Over the course of it's life, the hat has recieved extensive modifications from me:
- Tightened ribbon
- Pounced the felt thinner, smoother
- Pleated the crown (gone now)
- Removed reed from sweat
- Reattached liner differently
- Reblocked, by me
