The hype about Langlitz is REAL.

You are correct, as the jacket settled in it did loosen up a bit and that led to me noticing more fit issues. Love Aero and will order several more (Maxwell, Type III and possibly a Plainsman) but still find the build quality of Langlitz superior. Like any jacket and especially the first from a different maker there is a learning curve on both sides.
Takes a long time to find a good fit. The journey takes some time. Less time required when Langlitz can fine tune and adjust a custom order.
I went through approximately ten Aero, Lost Worlds, Thedi jackets before I figured out what fit me in whichever style. And I’m still fine tuning the non custom styles- of course there are many to choose from!!

What I have learned here is nothing is as good as the hype says it is.

Lost Worlds is nice stuff but not as amazing as they think or their website says they are. I have had 2 and sold 1 and the other is not far behind.

Langlitz is nice but not god-like. I think the Thedis I have handled are better made than the lost Worlds or Langlitz jackets I have had. We'll see how I feel about Langlitz after round two but that will just be a better fit this time around.

Seeing and having are different. We do hype the look and reputation of jackets we desire. It is actually a psychological phenomenon, and we have alluded to this in the past on TFL. The desire and chase are exciting and a very large part of the process. There is more often than not a certain "let down" once we receive articles of desire-post celebration. Many can attest; chasing, getting, selling, then regretting and getting basically the same. And we cycle through the styles we begin to appreciate that we dismissed prior. Einstein had it right on the jacket front. Wear the same smelly jacket that becomes our uniform till we die then someone else gets it and does what they want with it.

You really hit the nail on the head here sweetfights. I put so much energy and excitement into ordering both of my Langlitz jackets that I almost couldn’t help but be disappointed when I received the finished product. In my case they were both too small and had to be sent back for a remake. In both cases the second time around the jackets fit perfectly and I was happy.
As you mentioned in your post though, the cycle begins again, and my next custom jacket was from Thedi. Like many of us here, each jacket begins with me telling myself I am finally ordering the ultimate perfect jacket and once I receive it there will never be a need to order another one.
At the moment I am waiting on my first custom Lost Worlds, a CHP. Once I receive that I’m sure I will be completely satisfied and never need to order another jacket...

the OP jacket I think is fine for most, it will settle and make creases that finally will look good all the space and creases around the shoulder once settled might look nice and give more character than a perfectly clean shoulder, and still have great mobility, and ease of wearing/ layering, air still moving inside, but if the person is being measured and it is supposed to be tailor made then... yeah it is not a tailor made look which will look cleaner and trimmer , if there are jackets off the rack and the person tried that size, most likely he would try a size smaller to see which one works best.

although a tailor made look is not necessarily easier to wear compared to a more relaxed looser fit.

Lost World's CHP will be pretty nice I'd say.........If not "done" you will be plenty close with that jacket. The Lost World's thick waterproof Horsehide is perfect for that style jacket. I still think about the Lost World Suburbans I sold.

Hi,
Yesterday I just received a second-hand pair of Langlitz Western pants in goatskin.
I was not sure about the measurements. Of course I would only buy something (new or used) that fit and had the correct measurements. You never really know for sure though until you try the thing on.

I am still not completely sure even after wearing them for a day. The hip is a bit loose and the thighs and rear seem extra loose until I sit down, so maybe it's correct for motorcycle gear as intended and as I will sometimes use them.

I'm getting used to them and appreciate the chance to try out some quality leather riding pants in Langlitz' legendary goatskin. I'm sure...
" ... I will be completely satisfied and never need to order another [pants]..."
... at least until tomorrow.
Cheers.

Quoted for truth

Since we're discussing Langlitz, a simple question: cowhide or goat?
Goat is their speciality. But their cowhide I hear is thick and grainy and incredible. Can’t go wrong either way. Me personally I have like 3HH jackets and 3 cow, and only 1 goat and it’s a g-1 which is great but not comparable to my biker jackets. For all the amazing love for Langlitz medium brown cow, I think I’d go goat. See why they claim theirs is the best and so good for riding. But I might be in the minority here.

I have a sample of Langlitz goat. If I ever get a pair of leather pants it for sure would be goat. And because of the custom fit Langlitz would be my go to. Otherwise, Langlitz medium cowhide is simply incredible. The feel, smell, texture and graininess is outstanding. It has the definitive quality of getting better with age and wear. The harder you wear it, the better it gets. I love it. The same can be said for the wear factor of Aero and Lost World's and Thedi for that matter. Each of these makers leather is really unique. Too many choices and too few jackets really. But my favorite leather has got to be Langlitz medium cowhide. It is special.

I have been thinking about Langlitz for a while now... was considering their cowhide after seeing amazing examples of it here. But having received their catalogue where they recommend goat hide and hearing that it's their speciality, I am unsure on what to go for.

I'm sure my compliment of the fit did little to convince the OP to hold onto his jacket, with such previous admissions of mine such as "I prefer my jackets 2 sizes too big", but truly, I don't see how this jacket's fit is worthy of a redo. It's well within good parameters. I'd be afraid of a remake IMHO. This is the jacket casino; cash in your winning hand and walk away!

How does it look from the side? The only thing I can see is some excess leather on the back. But it looks more or less like it's hugging your body.

I gathered speaking with the guys at Langlitz was feedback from customers who order cowhide expecting the drape and feel of goatskin when the jacket arrives. If you go to the shop the jackets primarily available to try on are goat, which is fantastic but far more supple intially than cow or horsehide. That being said I am choosing medium weight cowhide again for my upcoming Langlitz flight jacket.

Funny you’d post this today as I wore it for several hours and realized it is setting in beautifully.

There is a lot more space between my chest and the body or the jacket on my left side. I measured the arms, ptp and back and it is identical to my G1 I was issued in Pensacola in 1979 (still fits perfectly btw). Aside from the inner excess room on one side of my chest it just needs to settle down and you are correct a complete redo would be a mistake. I may have them reduce the chest gap only. Sage advise Nick...
