Been there a couple of times when I worked in the 'care' industry Flicka, well worth a visit if you're ever over here....we were based only a few miles away from the house....it even smelled old!

Reminds me of my Grandmothers farm house back in the 60s and 70s. She did have a TV and a 50s radio, but every thing else was pre WWII.

What a great time capsule. Had it been in Sydney, it would've been knocked down 10-15 years ago for some crappy apartment house to be built in its place, the entire history obliterated.

What a fascinating thing! This is much better than any museum recreation, purely because it's been lived in. It's not artificially created - it's the result of actual family life from so long ago.

One thing that struck me as interesting - they have two pianos. One in the living-room, and one upstairs in the bedroom. Pianos are obviously not cheap. They must've been doing very well to be able to afford to have two in the household.

That is quite possible, my aunt has 2 pianos for that very reason!

Thanks for posting the link. What a nice look back into history. The simple life required more work around the house and really meant less time available for other interests.
