Good afternoon all,
I'm having a very bad experience with The Hattery/ Hats Direct. Back on Christmas Eve I ordered a couple of FedIV's. The 26th I got an email stating that the hats had been shipped, then a day later received another email letting me know that due to a local holiday the package in fact did not get shipped. No big deal a day or two should not matter. So here I am on the 14th still waiting on my package. When checking the tracking # I see where the order was sent to New York and spent 4 days there. Then for some unknown reason the order gets sent to Toronto Canada. I notify Hats Direct and later that day they send me an email apologizing for the mistake that it has been corrected and I can expect my order on the 12th.
HERE WE ARE ON THE 14th and STILL NO DELIVERY!! I sent another email and their reply basically said "we are half way around the world you will have to be patient" And dealing with Australian Post is even worse!!
Question, for those of you who have ordered from these guys in the past how did your package finally arrive? USPS, UPS, FEDEX?
Getting really irritated:mad::mad:
USPS for my 2 Feds from the Hattery.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. You never know what can happen to a delivery: they can get held up at customs for no apparent reason, get sent on the wrong plane, etc. I've had delivery times vary on my Akubras from a week and a half to a recent one that came in four days. Waiting for a hat delivery is always an experience, and I know it's easy to sound calm when it's somebody else doing the waiting, but my experience with the ladies at Hats Direct has been very positive and I think they're trying to do their best. Hang in there.

Hey there Tropical, I have been in contact with them and know it's not their fault .my issue with them is once I notified them of the issue I should have been getting regular updates from them concerning the status. I have not. I emailed them again two days ago to ask if they could follow up with Australian Post as AP has seen fit to ignore my emails and inquiries. HATSDIRECT got back to me yesterday letting me know that they contacted AP and found out the order is finally back in the U.S. and I should expect delivery in 3-7 days. I'm expecting 7, which if that's the case this will have been a few days shy of a month ordeal:mad: The girls said they did file a complaint with AP, what good that will do I donot know.

Last summer I was trying to return a hat to Peters Bros. in Texas, so I brought it in its box to the local Fedex office, pointed out to the guy there where, on the return label, the hat had to go, paid, and left. Two days later I found a box on my doorstep: The idiot had sent it to me. Not much you can do about the modern stupidity. Anyway, I hope you get your hat in the next day or so. It'll be worth the wait.

Yeah, but it was delivered quick, right?

That's the trouble with international shipping--once the parcel leaves the country of origin the original courier really has no control over what happens to it, and is forced to trust the subsequent couriers along the way know what they're doing.

I've had the same thing take place.

I have had good results with my limited experiences with the Hattery/Hats Direct from Australia. No problems and rather quick shipping and delivery. I had pre ordered a couple of limited edition fountain pens from a dealer in the Netherlands, and had a rather bad experience back during the holiday season. It was shipped on Nov 29, got a tracking number and nothing worked, USPS tracking did nothing for almost 4 weeks. It had arrived in Chicago and set most of that time in customs, and I must say that I had seen delays in Chicago customs before. I had contacted the seller and he did get a bit more information from his end than I could. I even had the local postmaster check and all he could say was that it was in customs, then it finally cleared and was delivered in E. Texas before USPS tracking showed anything.

Bottom line is that when we are dealing with international shipments we are at the mercy of customs for the most part.
My best experiences have been with Iguana Sell in Madrid, Spain, again ordering some pens. They ship international UPS and I sometimes get next day delivery, or the day after at the latest.

Does the tracking number they give you work on USPS tracking?

DanO, unfortunately the USPS shows the same info as AP. Last update was from Jan 5th. Am getting to the point where they can keep the damn hats and just give me my money back!!

Ordered a new Campdraft In size 58 from the Hattery in early December. It got held up in U.S. customs which is no surprise. However, I was shocked and disappointed to receive a Campdraft in size 59. Included was a note that the hat measured a 58. As an owner of multiple Campdrafts, I can assure you that it did not measure a 58. So now I am given the option to ship the hat back to them at my cost and then receive a refund once the hat makes it’s way back there.

All well and good if they hadn’t made the “mistake“ on the front end, but sure would have been better just to ship me the right size from the start. They did offer to refund the return shipping cost, but I’m still so frustrated that what should have been a couple of weeks’ wait for my hat is turning into months, with work and expense required of me through no fault of my own.

Anyone else have any trouble like this from this vendor before?

Sorry to learn of this Rick. After a while I tend to forget where I bought some of mine from but I did buy my Taupe Fawn Camp Draft from there, & maybe my Heritage Moonstone (if they are the proprietary vendor on Moonstone). At any rate I had no problems but that's been a couple yrs ago.
