Thx Jer. Text me some pics later. Think yer crown will be a bit higher. :)
Are they saying this is a Montecrisiti hat or a Cuenca? It's got a real nice, uniform weave, what looks like a leather (?) sweat and a decent crease to it. IMO, a steal at the listed price.

Just because I'm married to a woman from Ecuador, it doesn't make me an expert when it comes to Panama hats.... but I've purchased 5 so far at the source, studied a bunch more and viewed and handled dozens, maybe hundreds. My recommendation? If you're looking for a genuine Panama hat from Ecuador, a hat of about this quality, then I say buy it... TODAY. I don't think I can beat that price even in the crazy markets in Guayaquil, Cuebca, Manta, Montecristi, etc.

I hope to source some nice hats while in Ec. but there are no guarantees. I am so tempted to order one of these up and ask them to ship it to me in a couple weeks when I get back!

Very nice paja toquilla, Bob!

Thanks Fed. Leather sweat. Don't really kno if it's a Cuenca or Monticristi but I kno it's not a Monticristo, even though it does smell a little like sulphur...

Very nice!!!! Now if the outlet only had any more of these in stock I would of definitely ordered one. I can use a panama to compliment my PBros hemp Milan for this hot weather. BTW I do agree Candy was very nice and extremely helpful.

Nice. Very nice. The pattern and the grading, i.e., Grade 8, sounds like Cuenca... and it's hard too see in the pics, but the little snipped ends of straw inside the crown and the patterns of the circles in the top of the hat look more Montecristi to me.

In any event, $49 is such a sweet deal. I just PM'd a friend who asked me to look for a hat for them in Ecuador on our trip and told them to seriously consider buying this one from Hatco.

BTW, was speaking with Candy thanking her for the Panama "Norwood" this afternoon and asked if she had any more open crowns avaliable... she went back into the warehouse and said she had one Excellent Quality 150th Anniversary "Fortune and Glory." The color is the Stetson "Tobacco." Size is a true but maybe a bit "roomy" 7 and 1/8. She had a 7 1/8 employee try it on. Said it could be stretched fairly easily to a 7 1/4. I'm considering it but will probably take a pass. $124 plus shipping. She sent me some pics. Anybody interested feel free.
