Here is a hard to find hat:
Stetson Three-Way, gifted to me by @Just Daniel. He is one of the improvements in my life's enjoyment I owe to the Lounge.
The last pic is of he and I in Mexico City, shortly after he gifted me the hat. That’s a great hat and one that always makes me think of Moon’s avatar. As nice as the hat is, it’s the people and the friendships that mean the most.

I had the only one of these (long-haired Stetson 3X western with Last Drop liner) I had ever seen until Brent fostered a gray one for a short time recently. So it gets around the previous "rare" requirement and skates in under the new "hard to find" and maybe "unusual" qualifications.

It had necer occurred to me that such a 3X existed

Thanks, B! You are right. "Rare" is to confining a word. I will see if I can change the name now
Max i wasn’t trying to correct your use of the word rare, only defining my personal understanding when referencing hats.
I like the use of rare in the categorizing of hats. Sorry about that.
B
Ps: i didn’t think you could edit a thread title but i guess so.

And I also found this...

If I could only find a box. Not mine, obviously.

Beautiful, Jim!
I have two of their cousins. It turns out they were both made by MacLachlan. I wonder if the Demons were too. I even had a Demon, but it was so riddled with moth holes I kept the liner, put it in another hat (I didn't know which), and hid the rest somewhere (I don't remember where either).

It's pretty much a given the Demons were made by the Hoyt Hat Co. I'd love to be able to figure out the connection with the Harness Horse hats, though.

Also, that Demon that's been floating around eBay for over a year at $1,000 has different markings and has another city other than danbury listed on the sweat. Wish I could talk that guy out of that one at a decent price.

Looks like it was sized up a bit according to the added sweat. Still a bit small I think. But I loved the color!

Since Max is the OP and he’s posting “Hard to find or unusual hats” based on what he’s found in the market over the last couple of years I think that the parameters are obvious.

There are all sorts of other threads for other hats, but I’m enjoying the big tent nature of this thread. Some might have been common at the time they were originally sold, but scare/rare on the market today.

My hardest to find hat so far has been this:

What makes it truly rare isn’t the brand, or the model (I don’t know what model it is), the condition (mint!); what really makes it rare is the size:

Will bow out of this thread.

For those wondering why the old guard left - this thread, among others, serves to that end.

I don’t get it, Garrett. You have a pile of hats that belong here and that we would all love to see them. What is it about this that offends you? I’d really like to know. We respect your knowledge and are amazed at your collection. What about a thread to showcase hats that are hard to find in today’s vintage market rubs you wrong?
