Not sure what “Astrakhan” is, but that hat band is a huge turn off to me. In fact, the taper, crown height, and gold branding on the bow keeper are all not to my taste. Rare it no doubt is, but it’s not in the same class as many of your vintage hats, Max.

Today I learned....

https://thedreamstress.com/2012/01/terminology-what-is-astrakhan/

Astrakhan (also spelled astrachan) is, properly speaking, the tightly curled fleece of the fetal or newborn karakul (also spelled caracul) lamb. Less accurately, it can also refer to the fleece of fetal or newborn lambs from other species, or a knitted or woven fabric that imitates the looped surface.

Astrakhan has a distinctive tight, whorled, loopy surface with a slight sheen. The younger the lamb, the tighter and shinier the loops. True astrakhan comes in a range of colours from pale golden yellow to black, though black is the most desirable.

I think I'd like it better if it just had the contrasting band/bow.

And yes, I too like the hatbox!

Stetson Ermine/Beaver with case.
I was wondering if the other Stetson Ermine I had seen pictures of was pure Ermine, but I took a look at the picture of its certificate, and it says it was made of pure Ermine and pure Beaver
The Ermine arrived safely at my brother-in-law's Texas home.
He found the certificate (the hat is the 6th in the G series) and the ribbon with ermine tails inside the case

One of the reasons I am interested in a thread like this one is that I have a list of Stetsons and other hats I haven't been able to find. It is going to be hard to fill those slots, because many of them don't state the model somewhere in the hat.
To make it possible, it would be helpful to have images of such hats.
Eric posted images of two I have been looking for.
With his permission, I will post pics of them below.

I asked Eric if he has a Gadabout. Bowen mentioned it once, but I've never seen one, and can't find images of it anywhere.
