Last Thursday after a lot of stress (thanks to my college losing a vital piece of paperwork back in January) and telephoning solidly for three hours I managed to secure a university place at the University of Lincoln to study law. After a three year undergraduate degree it's only a one year postgraduate course and two years work experience with a law firm until I can become a solicitor (in the UK lawyers are split into solicitors and barristers), so I'm prepared for the first step towards my future career.

^ I hope so too for all your sakes :)

My good news is that I won't have to go to jail, because I didn't kill a real estate agent after she told our agent that she wouldn't show the house to her clients because we have period lighting in our home  I poured myself a cocktail instead :D

You're right (on both points.) I'll rephrase: Rue, I hope it was a vodka martini. And I hope you dumped the rainwater from your downspout on your silly real estate agent's head. :D
That's better. :p

To add to the good news, I started a new hobby today thanks to inspiration from an old friend I met up with: photography. I bought a 70s camera which appears to be quite well made (despite being from the German Democratic Republic), lots of film and have a light meter on order from ebay. Photography isn't something I ever thought I'd see myself doing but now that I have all I need I can't waist to start. I don't really do much in the way of hobbies other than wearing vintage clothing, but that isn't really a hobby as I do it all the time, not just in my free time; so I'm glad I found someting to do.

That's great that you found a hobby! Congrats on beginning your law degree too - You made a good choice, and I speak from experience ;)

Which reminds me that I've made a recent addition to my repertoire of hobbies, too: dressmaking! The more complicated it is, the more I enjoy teaching it to myself.

Thanks :). I'm glad I went for the law. I was originally going to do history and then a two year law conversion, but then I thought that if I want to be a lawyer I may as well do law straight away and save time I would otherwise spend doing the conversion course. I'll be spending enough time looking at historical cases as it is, as a lot of UK law is based on historical "landmark" cases.

I'm glad that you too have a new hobby.

I am going to be going to look at a house and hopefully put an offer in on it. It's actually right around the corner from our old house and is my second choice for neighborhoods in Portage, so I've got high hopes!

My BF got knocked off his bicycle on his way home from work yesterday. The driver didn't even stop. He hit the ground head first. The Good News is that because he was wearing a helmet, he's fine, just a little bruised. :)

Wear cycle helmets, people. They save lives.

Oh Miss Sis, that's awful, but I'm glad your boyfriend is ok.

My good news? Well it's hardly earth shattering, but today I got a fantastic haircut (and a pretty good set) from a women that specialises in vintage cuts, so I must admit I'm feeling abit fabulous today :)

Driving at 120 on the only straight and asphalted stretch of road in a eight hours journey, somewhere at the foot of the Ruwenzori on Sunday evening, the rear wheel of the No. 2 car in our 3 cars safari just popped out... and overtook the car. Nothing happened (besides the grinding noise and the sparks...), and twenty minutes later the car was back on the road, with four nuts borrowed from the other wheels.

We had driven for hours on winding untarred mountain roads, and had gotten on the asphalt just five minutes earlier...

I got engaged to fellow FL member Lillie Librarie last Friday, on the St. Charles Streetcar.

Well that certainly IS good news.
Congratulations.
I'm getting a new bed.
Yeah, I know how to set the world on fire, don't I? :D
Oh, I also got the title to our newest car from the lender, so now I own both cars.
My wife and I have decided to wait 7-8mos before purchasing a new one for intown use.
