I love the smooth vest over the tweed.

Here's a slightly better picture of the whole ensemble:

I thought the styles were very well done, with a very nice classic finish.

. Of course, I went out without having read the book yet, so my expectations probably weren't as high as they would have been had I done so, but I haven't heard too many awful things from people that had read the book and then saw the movie. Besides the story itself, I was fixated on the costumes/clothes, of which there were quite a few lovely examples. Daniel Craig especially, the suit he had on in the very beginning was incredible. All in all, a very enjoyable and satisfying movie. I very much hope they continue the trilogy.

No, and you won't hear anything bad from readers. It was a very faithful interpretation. I love the books - love the fantasy and philosophy. It wasn't until much later I understood why I identified so closely with some of the higher concepts of the soul that Pullman weaves into his stories - he, like myself, is an atheist. The books are positively wonderful in just about every way. First editions have been collectible for years now.

Pullman is a mediocre atheism apologist, but the stories are good in spite of his ham-handed attempts at anti-pseudo Catholicism.

Armored polar bears. 'Nuff said. :eusa_clap

I think I made it halfway through the book and ouldn't finish it. Too boring by far, I can barely remember it and I tried to read it just a year or so ago so I reckon I'll skip the movie.
