Just to prove my point the Luftwaffe did in fact invade England in 1940, well errrr 2010 actually. ;)

Here is a genuine and still flying ME109 at the Shoreham Air Show August 2010.

PS the only piece of Britain they did occupy were the Channel Islands.

The Channel Island are not part of Britain. They are crown dependencies, but technically they are the remnant of the Duchy of Normandy, not part of Britain proper. Of course residents there are entitled to British citizenship, but that's by dint of the British having extended British citizenship to subjects throughout the Empire (as was), much like the Romans before them. Same deal with Northern Ireland (and formerly all of Ireland).

I shall bow to your superior knowledge Edward ! ;)

I think the term you are looking for is "smartass". ;)

The Luftwaffe had such lovely planes.... and uniforms..... pity about their boss, really.

Hmmm . . . if the folks in the Channel Islands are perfectly happy remaining British, and the French have no problem with it, then maybe the folks in Argentina should take notice of that fact. (Sorry! I know, it's political. Ignore this comment!)

Nice! Looks like the Spanish version with the Merlin?
Yes it is a Spanish built Hispano H-1112 Buchon. Very nice but very dangerous, to the pilot that is! They added a three bladed propeller, looks more like an original.

You may be right; I'm not an expert on German planes of WW2. So let's say it was a Spanish built one. Incidentally in the 1970 film Battle of Britain they used a lot of ex Spanish planes repainted for the Luftwaffe fleet.

But it was nice to see the dog fight with the ME109 and a few Spitfires and Hurricanes.

Here is the RAF Ops. tent at Shoreham.....

Here is an action shot of a Buchon! Low enough for you? I believe it was flown by the late Mark Hanna, who was killed in one a few years later.

Sadly a couple of years before I took the ME109 at Shoreham a guy in a Hurricane had a tragic accident. I wasn't there then, but I guess it was summer 2008. Sad.

The squadron leader enters an RAF officers' mess and takes off his
helmet.
Bovril Morning, Squadron Leader.
Squadron Leader What-ho, Squiffy.
Bovril How was it?
Squadron Leader Top-hole. Bally Jerry, pranged his kite right in the how's
your father. Hairy blighter, dicky-birdied, feathered back on his Sammy, took a
waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harper's and caught his can in the
Bertie.
Bovril Er, I'm afraid I don't quite follow you, Squadron
Leader.
Squadron Leader It's perfectly ordinary banter, Squiffy. Bally Jerry...pranged
his kite right in the how's yer father...hairy blighter, dicky-birdied,
feathered back on his Sammy, took a waspy, flipped over on his Betty Harper's
and caught his can in the Bertie.
Bovril No, I'm just not understanding banter at all well today.
Give us it slower.
Squadron Leader Banter's not the same if you say it slower,
Squiffy.
Wingco Yes!
Bovril Bend an ear to the Squadron Leader's banter for a sec, would
you?
Wingco Can do.
Bovril Jolly good.
Wingco Fire away.
Squadron Leader (draws a deep breath and looks slightly uncertain, then
starts even more deliberately than before)
Bally Jerry...pranged his
kite...right in how's yer father...hairy blighter...dicky-birdied...feathered
back on his Sammy...took a waspy...flipped over on his Betty Harper's and caught
his can in the Bertie...
Wingco ...No, don't understand that banter at all.
Squadron Leader Something up with my banter, chaps?
A siren goes. The door bursts open and an out-of-breath young pilot
rushes in in his flying gear.
Pilot Bunch of monkeys on the ceiling, sir! Grab your egg and
fours and let's get the bacon delivered!
General incomprehension. They look at each other.
Wingco Do you understand that?
Squadron Leader No, didn't get a word of it.
Wingco Sorry old man, we don't understand your banter.
Pilot You know...bally ten-penny ones dropping in the
custard...(searching for words) un...Charlie Choppers chucking a
handful...
Wingco No, no...sorry.
Bovril Say it a bit slower, old chap.
Pilot Slower banter, sir?
Wingco Ra-ther!
Pilot Um...sausage squad up the blue end?
Squadron Leader No, still don't get it.
Pilot Um...cabbage crates coming over the briny?
Squadron Leader No.
Others No, no....
Stock film of a German bombing raid.
Voice Over But by then it was too late. The first cabbage crates hit
London on July the 7th. That was just the beginning.

Bovril

Hold on then. (shouts) Wingco!

That's a beautiful aircraft.

Still got nothing on that purty FW-190, though.

I would love to have seen this...awesome machine. And authentic no doubt.

Lucky you, thanks for the picture!
