The other day on the phone, the wife muttered those words I long to hear, "A box came for you today."

It was a black Mallory from the Garrett collection:

I know of few of you have taken advantage of Garrett's generosity, (portolan) so let's keep the thread going.

That blacky looks terrific on you. Garrett has great taste in hats and when he wants to move 'em along he doesn't goof around about it. He offers good vintage hats, shows them clearly with great photos and prices them to sell.

I just received two (below) from him and am well pleased. Consider this 'Positive Feedback' for one of our own. :eusa_clap

Lyle Lovett - Don't Touch My Hat

I'm a big fan of Lyle and that song, but always smirked when it came to mention of his tiny "Beetlejuice" head. Seems he has good company -neat hats!

I think when the next one gets delivered in a few days it will make about 4 or 5 Garrett specials I've accumulated now. Great stuff. He has enriched the lives of so many men with size 7 skulls.

Mrs. Portolan now has four Garrett hats with two

more on the way! Each of them has been terrific. I will take some pics of her in them. I am jealous because Garrett doesn't have a bigger head!

Another thanks to Garrett. This is one of my favorite hats right now. I think the proportions are just right and I can't believe I got such a nice Borsalino for such a nice price.

Last week Garrett PM'd me asking for my address. He said he had a "couple" of hats for me, if I wanted them. "If I wanted them"?

Today, there were 2 boxes sitting on my table when I got home. I figured 2 boxes, 2 hats right?

Was I ever in for a surprise when I opened them up.......

Here are the contents......

Yep, that's right, 7 total in all, not counting the Lion Hat in front, I already had that one.....

I'm still in shock. It was like Christmas all over again. I steamed and cleaned them tonight, a few of them need a little stretch but they're all sweet lids.

I plan on doing individual shots of them this weekend and will update.

I can't thank you enough Garrett. I can tell you that they went to a good home, and I'll be sure to wear them well.
