Well, you're basically right, but if you get a chance to catch re-runs of "Perry Mason," you'll see Raymond Burr, a monolith of a man, sporting narrow peak lapels and narrow ties and carrying them off with aplomb. He didn't wear hats much, those were left to Lt. Tragg. (played by the great Ray Collins)

Then again, there's this guy:

I do say.. this photo always puts me in the spirit of going for a stingy brim... but I need the skinny lapels and skinny tie to go with it.

Hey Matt:
An interesting thread revival after 12 years. Any chance of an update pic?
I wonder what we Twelve Years After crowd think about said topic. So many hats and members later.
Ps: i still love the black wide ribbon Premier Strat i got from you. I believe it was a proto-type to your new line. Great job!!
Be well. Bowen

Aaand...I have a long-oval head.
What do you gentlemen recommend for a Fedora style or "semi-Fedora/Akubra style".
I would say a slightly tapered crown, not too tall (4 1/2" at the front).....medium width brim 2 1/2 to 2 3/4".
In Akkubra fedora styles look at the Sydney or Stylemaster. Stetson Stratoliner is in that range for a few more bucks. In an outback style look at the Akubra Angler or Banjo Paterson.
