Now, if someone would only copy Bogie's overcoat from "Casablanca" EXACTLY... Is there anyone we know capable of doing that?

I would LOVE to do this. This is one of those garments I've been waiting to do since the beginning. Unfortunately, it's such an expensive prospect that you've really got to get it right the first time. If anyone is brave enough, we could spend a lot of time e-mailing back and forth with pictures, discussing details... or perhaps even start a thread here to iron out all the details.

In any case, I too love the way these "Expedition Pants" came out. As I said to the owner of these pants... it's a good thing they weren't my size. ;) Oh, and we can certainly make these out of other fabric. I'm not sure if I have any pure cotton in a lighter weight though. We may have to go to a cotton blend. PM or e-mail me for more details...

Kind regards,
Magnoli

I had a feeling you might say that, my friend. ;)
I think it would be an amazing item, and I have never seen anyone get it exactly right. Definitely something to consider. ;)

So I know I can't hide this, and I'm prepared for the flack (but not here ladies - let's open another thread if necessary and leave the gents be), but.....

I've been around for a while now, and it seems to me that you gents are very much more into the very specific detail. I'm very impressed. I mean down to the bulge the wallet makes!!. In awe of the detail... Sorry to intrude... :)
No intrusion at all; you're welcome anytime to comment. :)

I'm confused a little, are the pants that Magnoli posted just a pants version of the shorts worn by Ralph Fiennes in the picture with Kristen Scott Thomas (man she's hot) or are they reprsented in some other part of the movie?

Fiennes wears a leather jacket in an early scene, then again when the group is somewhat stranded in the desert. It looks like a common half belt style jacket, but it is really something to covet.

These pants are not a reproduction of any one particular garment but a hybrid of several.

English Patient Pants- update.

These are they-
Same as in the Movie.

But these ones have tin buttons, rather than "vegetable ivory"/bakelite/plastic.

FRONT-

Extended waist-bearer on attached waistband, brace buttons, double forward pleats, first aid dressing pocket.

REAR-

Twin reverse pleats make for a roomy seat, no back pockets.
