The earliest for me was also Roundhay Garden Scene (1888) and the very short clip of a horse crossing a bridge in the same year.
I LOVE old movie clips 1880s-1900s. I have old VHS tapes full of them.
The earliest recording I've heard was Frank Lambert's Experimental Talking Clock from 1878.

This gives me the absolute WILLIES every time I listen to it (which isn't often!) Motion pictures from that time period don't bother me, but voices freak me out.
