Well, that's the thing with Robert Stack: when he was young (1930s-'40s Hollywood), he looked older ... and when he was old (1980s "Unsolved Mysteries" TV show), he looked younger.


And who can forget Stack as 'Elliott Ness' in "The Untouchables" series?

I have some of the old TV Untouchables episodes on DVD. Yes, Robert Stack indeed played Elliot Ness, and was very good, but the narrator was Walter Winchel, who had a marvelous voice for the task. The production quality was surprisingly good -- looks like it was filmed at considerable expense. All of the characters dressed with some dignity, unlike our friend above with the droopy drawers!

I did think it was Ben Kingsley for a while, I did rule out Uncle Fester and Uncle Buck right off, however. Yet yes, I do think it is Robert Stack. Would be about the right age for the time period of the picture.
