URGENT: DERBY LANDMARK NOMINATION MOVES ON TO AN IMPORTANT NEXT STEP

PUBLIC HEARING: TOMORROW TUESDAY APRIL 25TH AT CITY HALL

Last month, the Cultural Heritage Commission ("CHC") voted to designate the Derby - - in its entirety -- as an official City Landmark. Tomorrow, Tuesday April 25th, this decision goes on to the Planning & Land Use Management ("PLUM") Committee and then eventually goes on up to the full City Council.

The PLUM Committee will review the CHC's decision and make a recommendtion to the full City Council whether or not to approve the CHC's decision.

THE CHC DID THE RIGHT THING. WE WANT PLUM TO RECOMMEND APPROVING THE CHC VOTE, ESPECIALLY CHC'S DECISION TO DESIGNATE THE ENTIRE BUILDING AS A LANDMARK.

Full Landmark designation (not just "partial" designation) is very important! The developer recently produced new plans for the site. They now propose saving only part of The Derby. The developer's "70% solution" means losing at least 30% of the Derby! They want chop off the whole backroom! We need your support.

chiming in as I did the first time from NC, adding this to the note: (don't live in LA but its on the list of "swing capitols" to choose one to move to in next 5 yrs or so)

"This building is a great attraction to myself and other professionals
to the Los Angeles, CA area. As you must be well aware, there has been a
great revival of golden era nostalgia as of late, and Los Angeles is a
beacon of interest for these sites to attract good people to the city.
Many of us believe that the loss of this structure, on the heels of
the loss of other historic sites such as The Atlantic Richfield Building,
The Pan Pacific Auditorium, The Ambassador, the other three Brown Derby
Restaurants, could be a catastrophic blow to this powerful aspect of the
appeal of L.A."

>>>>> but couldn't submit: It brings up a [Javascript Application] window stating:
"Please correct the following errors: This is not an email address."

It said nothing of what field it was referring to. I filled out every field correctly. I removed my email address from that field and retyped twice. Its the same email address I submitted the first time, nothing strange.

Do I just need to try this from another computer (running a more standard browser like IE), or are others having this problem and I should try to email the site admin to fix it?

I would give the site people an email...but then also perhaps just email the three people seperately if you have time....sorta does both things in case they cant fix it right this moment...

Done.
I added a bit about wanting my children to see things like this along with Historic Route 66, and the explosion of car culture in the early and mid 20th century.
