Last night this was on TCM, and it never occured to me before, but the difference between the movie with Glen Ford and the TV show is astounding. In just 6 years we went from a movie that still seems very golden age, even though it's in color to a pretty modern depiction of life in NYC. In the movie it's all cocktail dresses, white dinner jackets, suits at picknicks and the tv show has this totally casual, comtemporary feel. It really illustrated the end of an era.

1963 (the year the movie was made) was an awaking year, clothes, styles, music. I happen to love Shirley Jones even when she was Momma Partridge, and who didn’t?
but come the TV version and you have the mod mid 60’s look, the sweaters and slacks, very cool. Well before the hippy look of later 60’s.
A little unknown tid-bit is Harry Nilsson (Mid-Night Cowboy’s Every bodys talking) also wrote but never recorded the theme song to The Courtship of Eddie's Father:

People let me tell you 'bout my best friend,
He's a warm hearted person who'll love me till the end.
People let me tell you bout my best friend,
He's a one boy cuddly toy, my up, my down, my pride and joy.

People let me tell you 'bout him he's so much fun
Whether we're talkin' man to man or whether we're talking son to son.
Cause he's my best friend.
Yes he's my best friend.

I haven‚Äôt seen the movie in years, just missed it on TMC 

I love this movie, I think the funniest scene is where Eddie is making his Father practice talking to Elizabeth and he refers to is Father as, "My Darling Sugar Man" and "My Handsome Strong Man"
