What did it cost on average to build such a structure as THIS?

What would it cost now to build such a structure? Could it be done? Who do you think could do it?

I don't know how much it would cost, but Disney has done a grand job with lobby of their GRAND CALIFORNIAN HOTEL (opened 2001) in Anaheim:

The Biltmore cost $10 million to build in 1923. In 1980, it received an $80 million renovation.

To replicate the structure using 1923 building materials and construction techniques would be very pricey, maybe a billion. And, there are at least a dozen developers up to the task. But, you really wouldn't want to build a structure like that today as it's very high maintenance not to mention the fact that it wouldn't pass code. That's why nearly all the old grand hotels have been renovated in the last twenty or thirty years. You can get the same aesthetics with less expensive modern construction that will be much less costly to maintain.

How about a less complicated structure? An art deco theater, or an office building? Maybe a clothing store. It's probably entirely possible to build a structure with good detail that is not done today due to the costs.

What if the structure was within the code and was built with more modern construction but used the interiors and exterior details of an old building, and still maintained that look and feel? I'm not very knowledgeable on the building codes or construction in general.

I brought up this subject with someone once. They said Disney could do it. I can see why.
