Finished reworking this conversion into a brushed finish longhair. This Resistol Stagecoach in Chestnut has the same dimensions and crown height as the one I finished last week. The open crown is 6 inches and is creased in my preferred Teardrop crease. As creased, the crown is 5 inches tall at the pinch with a rake sloping to 4 inches tall in the back. The crown also has a tighter pinch. The snap brim is 2 3/4 wide. It also sports a dark brown 6 ply mid ribbon....

Outstanding! The finish is a knockout! This one really displays your skills. It looks great from every angle.

Another excellent job, Terry. Shape and finishing are outstanding and that ribbon is gorgeous. The crown is a bit tall for my taste, but that's just me and nothing to do with the conversion.

Thank you buddy. Oh yeah, definitely. Tall crowns are a matter of preference. It's all in finding the right hat and what someone feels comfortable with.

Doing another brushed finish longhair. This one's a Western. The brim is under 4 inches at only 3 3/4 inches wide. I made a rule for myself that any Western with a brin width of 4 inches and over I would keep it Western. Anything under that width I would consider converting it to a fedora. I'm torn between keeping this a Western and converting it to a fedora. The kind of Western crown crease I'm considering may not be proportionate to the brim width. But, I'll see how it goes....

Finished up this Stagecoach brush finish longhair. I can't get good picture quality of the hat. Here's what I have until I can get some better pics. It has a tall straight crown with a nice rake sloping to the back. It's creased to my preferred Teardrop. The snap brim is 2 3/4 wide. It also has a contrasting 1 5/8 dark brown ribbon. The pictures don't come near to doing this hat justice. It's a nice rich Cordova Brown with a touch of sheen to the finish....

The top picture is closer to the hat's actual appearance. This is all the pictures I'll post for now until I can find some better lighting.

That hat looks good in any light, even dark. Love everything about this one.

Looks good to me also. I love a chocolate brown fedora.

This is going to be an experiment hat. I'm going to try a scratch finish on this one. I got the idea from a friend of mine a few years ago who also did conversions. I haven't heard from him in a while. He used to sell his stuff on eBay and he doesn't seem to be there anymore and his phone number is no longer in service. He was an older guy who served in Vietnam. I don't even know if he's still alive. Anyway, it's on the block...

I really like the long hair and brushed finish you have been doing! I am looking forward to seeing this one. I saw a hat from Resistol called the Cuttin edge, that I wanted, but not my size. It looked like an Open Road style, but raw edge and a finish that looks similar to your work. Sort of a shorter hair with brushed finish. Great look!

I haven't seen that one from Resistol. It sounds interesting. I'm definitely going to check that one out. The one I'm working on now maybe similar to the Cuttin edge. It will have a shorter nap than the brushed longhairs I've been doing but will still have depth to the finish.

Would you happen to have a picture of that Resistol?

Another excellent conversion, Terry. I really like these different finished ones. Great colours on this one too.
