Well ventilated with ceiling fan. I was using the Naptha bar of soap and a new horse hair shoe polish brush to work the soap in counterclockwise. It smells like dial hand soap. The label didn't say anything about fumes and flammability.

Finally got this unknown western hat done. I converted it drawing my inspiration from the Stetson OR. I gave it a Cattleman Crease and finished it off with a vintage 3 ply thin ribbon and Campaign style bow. The brim on this one is 2 1/2 inches wide with a bit of a cowboy curl, similar to a brim style that I saw someone wearing in an old picture with Frank Hamer. The pictures don't even come close to doing this hat justice.

On the head. The camera moved a little so it's just a tad blurry.

@T Jones I really admire your talent for hat conversions.....Do you always wet the hat to shape them? Do you use steam for the fine adjustments?
I have always been frustrated by just using steam as I only have a Jiffy Steamer and I sure wish it put out more steam!

Latigo
Thanks, Latigo. I actually get my hats damp with water from a spray bottle for creasing, but not soaking through. Since most of my conversions are done from westerns with heavy felt tea kettles and jiffy steamers just don't put out the steam like an actual hat steamer would. If you go the route of dampening your hat for creasing you want to be sure of your city's water quality. When in doubt, use distilled water. Hope that helps.
