Quite amusing if you like smugly smirking, I gather. After a paragraph, though, it just repeats itself, or after two maybe. No, one.

Alright, I realise that was exaggerated, especially as I agree both with the appreciation of old style and the ironic distance. In short, get a copy and judge for yourselves.

Sounds interesting, but I worry that the chaps (no pun intended) there would use the opportunity to just insult people disguising it as "humour." Certainly happens a lot on the internet.

I like the only issue of the Chap- it reads a little pretentious and pompish a very tongue-in-cheek way, but still contains some valuable information. I got a history of the origins of the duffel coat in mine. DOUGLAS would appreciate their love for large moustaches.
Btw, Sen. Jack, the ratio in your new signature is practically the girl to straight guy ratio at NYU- :cheers1:

Recycled thread! Recycled thread!

This is a case where Google might be of more use than the forum's own search, which, I think, won't allow for a phrase. There are too many FL posts that contain both the words "the" and "chap".

Indeed I think it was probably pretty lame in the 30s. They used to have a concept called the "drugstore cowboy" which I think covered it pretty well.

In other news, meet Captain Kangaroo, USMC!
