I just got a Hanna flat cap off an ebay store. Its a darn nice cap. For 30 bucks you cant beat it.

A question for you all. I'm looking for a newsboy style next. But I would like one that isn't so floppy. So wide across the top I guess.

About Hanna caps ...

How does everyone like them?
If this is the same company I keep finding that sells on eBay, they look like decent quality for the price. Sure it's not leather sweat and satin lining, but for $20-30 it doesn't seem so bad ...
To be honest I grab for the Hanna first.

My minor complaints about the B!Wear cap is the suede sweatband and the fit. The hat does not adjust on the head as easily as with leather or material. There is something about the cut of the cap that has me constantly trying to get it to sit a certain way on my head. It looks blocky and does not flop as it should. On the plus side.. the customer service it excellent! Communication is immediate and thorough. I am sure Brett can add a leather sweatband for a small additional fee. It is a fine hat for the money.

Shandon of Donegal

Carebear, I was once described from this picture as looking like I "was about to cut someone with a broken bottle".

:D

Mine is a Hanna's (or is it Hannah's....I don't have it in front of me right now) of Donegal. I got mine from www.noggintops.com . It was like $40 or so. It has an olive colored satin lining with the colorful Hanna's label, and a green nylon herringbone tape sweatband.

I saw the leather jacket/cap combo on "Red" in the movie "Seabiscuit" (which I found to be a surprisingly good movie), and thought it looked "right". ;)

Great thread.

The Cap Faction, what a wonderful and needed thread idea. There are some really superb hats here guys.
Here is my addition a tan, black and brown woven newsboy with a leather brim.

I notice the front part of my cap is tack sticked onto the edge of the brim. Is that like the stiching on a suit's pockets? Can/should I clip it?

My guess is not to clip it, unless there are snaps holding the front of the crown down to the brim like the two I own. If you clip it, I don't imagine it will cause and problems, actually you would be able to pull it lower on your head with the front part of the crown raising up making it look like an M43 cap. The reason I wouldn't clip it is if you want to keep it as it is. The stitiches help it stay that way on a windy day.

Indycop, Deanglen, and Cookie, Thank you for the kind words.

Cookie I bought it at a local shop called "Soul Boutique". The brand is UBI and unfortunatly I could not find an online retailer that had the same hat for sale. I suspect if you contact the manufacturer they might know of a local retailer in your area.

Nice caps gentlemen. I don't have a good picture right now,but I'll try to get something tomorrow. I have B! Wear caps and they are nice although I'm going to add to the general consensus that a leather or fabric sweat would be a bit more comfortable. Another company that makes a fine cap is "The Hat People" which is, I think, in Oregon. They offer a choice of 'floppiness' for your cap ranging from very little to quite a lot which I think has a truer vintage feel. The brims aren't squared enough on the end though.

Here's my addition to the rogues gallery...

It's a grey newsboy/Gatsby I got for the lovely price of £4.99 from H&M...a high street fashion shop over here in the UK, I also got the same cap but in a brown shade, lovely caps for the money.

I like to wear it with my genuine 1970's dark brown leather coat for that Hells kitchen mobster look ;)
