I can't leave well enough alone. But, there are no hat police.
Honestly…that’s just how it fits on my noggin! I have other caps that behave differently, my two Cordova caps have a really flexible peak that you can just bend or flatten at will and they stay that way. The two from Keith Lo Bue are bendy as well but they’ll basically shape themselves as you put them on. I have a linen flat cap from Hanna’s that fits a bit more snug and the peak flattens because of it, still really comfy though. So it just depends. I have a linen newsie from Capas that I really enjoy that had a really curved preset peak.I've been wearing flat caps for 20 years or so and have always made an effort to shape the bill in a curve that matched the drape of an 8 panel rather than leave it flat or nearly so. In several of the photos posted w/in this cap thread the bills are curved minimally if at all. Is that because they're new and you just haven't done so yet? Do you leave it that way to flip as near new at some future point or is that a wearer's preference? I'd never noticed anyone wearing a flat cap that way until I saw photos of short balding man Art Hat1, etc. I'm guessing it's being done purposefully and intentionally but why?
