Eric, sorry, I wasn't clear on something I wanted to say. The old-school cap wearers pad the cap while wearing it. For esthetics and art, not storage!

Care questions:
(1) How do you care for the leather banded wool caps? I wear my caps and see that sooner than later I may need to clean (refresh) a couple of my wool caps. I am bald (obvious from my moniker) and I can see the start of staining on the liners of my caps. When I travel with my caps I change the "new" blocked shapes. Should I block and steam them, like I do with my fedoras?
(2) Storage? Currently I store them stacked with tissue paper between. Any suggestions as to care? I only have a couple of custom caps, but value my vtg caps as well.

Thanks in advance for your sage wisdom. Best, Eric -

Hi Eric, Greg mentioned some good points of how to care and store caps.
Blocking and steaming your caps is good. Not 100% sure about freshing them up, but I remembered using a spray bottle with water and baking soda on a vintage coat around the armpit area and it took away all the bad odor, so maybe that would help keep the caps fresh. I will try it on one of my caps and see how it goes.

Thanks Feraud!!

Hey, I just spent a terrific morning hanging out with none other than the illustrious Baron Kurtz, who came through town on his way back north. He brought a very special gift, which I will be sure to make very good use of!

Just finished making this cap for myself - the first time I've used this amazing fabric for a non-paneled cap.

The Trident cap: 8-dart cap with three inverted pleats and back band. 1930's Art Deco wool crepe, 1950's kimono silks liner, leather band, visor & sweatband, 1920's blued-steel French buttons, rare brass vintage clover snap, hand-woven perle cotton ribbon.
