I went to visit my pal Al at Al's Attire in San Fran yesterday
I took him 3 vintage leathers for lining I picked up at Inspiration.....
he had this sweet vintage lining fabric looked iridescent like the old jackets had

when he makes caps you can pick your own linings which is cool
but the ready made caps have beautiful linings as well
the bills are made of leather

oh yea the same time as inspiration & close by was the vintage fashion expo show happens twice a year both in San Fran & LA
I went for a quick visit but I didn't see too much cap wise & I have too much formal wear that I just don't use much nowadays
tons of vintage prom dresses & the like mostly...

More great pics Che - thank you!! Al's looks amazing. How much are his 8-dart caps? I'm thinking of calling him to order one...

Richard, that is a sweet cap. I love tweeds that reveal colors on close inspection... Nice!!

Just finished my new boro 8-dart cap... I've included a vintage pic that inspired the fabric layout. From my 1920's French cap pattern, my fave one (I call it L'Aronde - The Dove, after the vintage model). This fabric is a Japanese handwoven indigo boro (patched) cotton from about 1910, and the kimono silk liner is also from the teens or twenties. I love the watery pattern of the liner. Leather visor, 1920's grosgrain ribbon and vintage snap.

I'm feeling more confident in my construction detail now, though I have yet to say it comes second nature! I'll wear this cap to death, much as I do my first boro fabric cap.
