Che that Al's Attire cap is a knockout. Very cool. I guess the strap makes a nice touch if you want to wear it with the crown pushed back, too.

They tend to be ornamental only, attached to an ornamental faux belt. The belt is sometimes adjustable, but not often. I suspect Barry S. will be introducing an adjustable one soon.

Hey folks.

I recently purchased a very nice ivory-white linen and cotton flat-cap, almost identical to this:

With white/light hats, perspiration-staining is an issue. When it requires washing, how should I wash a cap like this? Throw in the washing-machine? Hand-wash it? Hot water? Cold? Regular soap? (liquid or bar), or laundry-soap/powder?

I would think no more than a cold hand-wash, otherwise it'll shrink like who knows what. Maybe even a trip to the cleaners.
It's a really nice looking cap, though. I've been considering a linen cap for awhile as an alternative to straw hats in the southern summer heat. I really like the look of that one.

Well I have two summer hats. One straw boater, and one traditional Panama (which is coming with me on my trip to Singapore next week). I bought this as a sort of more casual summer hat, below the Panama & boater, and also as a more general casual cap.

I'll also be bringing the flat cap to Singapore, along with the Panny.

Shangas, a dry clean might be the only way to guarantee no shrinkage. Linen can be funny to wash without distortion.

My second finished cap - a 1930's denim workwear cap. I'm particularly happy with it since I created the pattern myself from my 1930's example (without disturbing it, no less!). I used 1960's denim and 1920's ribbon, which was my concession to the original. It's soft and can be worn in many configurations. Now to try this design in a wool!
