Anyone else seen this British mini-series set in WWII era England? I got the first disc through Net-Flix a few weeks ago and was pretty much sucked into it! It's a very light watch, very typical of BBC style mini-series from the early nineties. Jennifer Ehle is in is, some of you may recognize her as the beloved Elizabeth Bennett in the iconic BBC version of Pride & Prejudice. But be warned - there is nudity and foul language galore (alot of reviewers on NetFlix and Amazon freaked out about this...apparently all British period mini-series are supposed to immediately be kid friendly....[huh]) but it works very well within the story. Most of the story takes place during The Blitz and to see the group of young people who are at the center of the movie react and go about their lives while bombs are falling all around them is extraordinary. There is a scene where one of the girls and her young cousin are hiding under a kitchen table while bombs are falling outside and she's on the telephone discussing their weekend plans or something while they're taking cover! A bomb hits the house next door, and she just continues to talk...it's bizarre! I've just received the second disc today and I'm looking forward to finishing the series. If you can get your hands on it, I'd recommend it for the clothes and settings alone! Beautiful costumes!
