Yes, that is a beauty!

I recently purchased two hats from a seller and they sent this one by mistake. It is way too small for me (ponti 5, circumference 22”) but since the quality seems very high I decided to take a partial refund and try my luck reselling on the bay. The felt is very light and soft and dry-shapable.

Any ideas as to it’s age?

Thanks Randy! I noticed that there is a sewn in spacer in the front of around 2mm deep by 4 3/4” long. The circumference is 22” but it would gain a bit if the spacer was removed to get closer to the 7 1/8 sweet spot. :)

I've seen a P&C Habig with that kind of space and Steve @mayserwegener tells me he has seen several also. I wonder if it is integral to the hat shape and construction or it allowed them to "size" the same bodies to several sizes.

Yes, that makes sense. It certainly looks to be integral to the hat and sewn in along with the sweatband. It is visible externally but looks very clean. I’m not going to mess with it.

Randy, They are fairly common in Austrian and German Stiff Felts. I believe the ones that were permanently installed were possibly for forehead padding and ventilation purposes (not visible). One Stiff Felt of mine had a couple of them placed at the rear but they were not stitched in place. In that case they were possibly supplied by the manufacturer or retailer as spacers.

This is a Soft Felt and Vented (visible). Was the visible corrugated Vent removed? The Sweatband is marked 5 1/2 but it's normal to be one size larger than the Hat size.

For the Borsalino weird marketing during the years. Daniele bought as a "special hat" :)
Borsalino Orologio 1.jpg

Collection of watches released to coincide with the 150 anniversary since the foundation of the brand. Limited and numbered edition. This comes without the box and certificates. Note that the box was the same as the one used for the folding felts.

"Borsalino men's watch. Limited series for the 150th anniversary. Swiss quartz movement, sapphire crystal, strap just replaced and new battery. Small scratches on the caseback. Without box. Diameter 39mm approx. Double strap. White racing type and green Italian leather".
If anyone wants to complete their collection of Borsalino hats and accessories, here we are

A Borsalino I got to resell (hence the different background for the pics). I'm kind of doubtful it is actually made by Borsalino though. The felt feels rough to the touch and there is no Borsalino label. Very lightweight at 72 grams and likely meant to be a roll-up. Size 59 with the stitched brim at 5cm and the crown at 10,5 at the center dent. So just to be complete.

Not for the faint of heart: Borsalino Serikon...lords hat? Some outsized dimensions: 6 1/2” open crown and 3 1/2” brim. Beautiful longish hair finish and a single row stitched brim edge treatment. And gills! I love the gills. It fits perfect so Borsalino is consistent with running a bit small. Here she is:
