This Borsalino is 90% bought by a tourist, probably American, in the magnificent Florence. For your knowledge, Brent, of the Borsalino sales policy, I inform you that it is very difficult to see hats with such a low ribbon in Italy, perhaps some Italians may have bought it, but knowing the sales managers in Alessandria they supplied the major hat shops in the cities of art with hats of shape suitable for foreign audiences.
Having said that, the Borsalino is very nice, but I have nothing of your size to exchange it for :)

Lovely homburg, but it’s clearly NOT a size 7 5/8 as it was sold to me as.

Molto, molto e molto bello.
Brent this homburg is magnificent in shape and color. The color (Lino) is the first time I've seen it and the shape (Etrusgu 41) as well, but other than that, it all works beautifully. Too bad it's not my size, I would have settled for a 7 3/8 too :)

French hat branded "D'Aubignac Chapeliers a Drancy - France" specially designed for the Italian retailer Schettini with shops in Milan and Pavia.
D'Aubignac interno parziale.jpg

The hat, called Cly Chy, has luxurious finishes and features a purplish silk interior with a sweatband of the same color
D'Aubignac interno totale.jpg
The hat is gray with a dark blue ribbon
D'Aubignac 1a.jpg

The shape and the ribbon are those of a 1930s hat, with a rounded shape in the crown and with narrow brims and a high ribbon, also equipped with an anti-wind cord
D'Aubignac 2a.jpg
Very beautiful and well finished, it has a special allure
D'Aubignac 3a.jpg
This is the premise, but in my long attendance at French hat making I have never come across this brand and even the research done on the subject made me take a long tour of French history a few centuries ago, without results.
D'Aubignac 4a.jpg
I forgot to say that Drancy and Clychy are two municipalities in the north of Paris about fifteen kilometers apart
D'Aubignac 4.jpg
Digging under the beautiful sweatband held together by a masterful sequence of stitches, I find this label that reveals an Italian hat badly disguised as a French one
D'Aubignac etichetta carta.jpg
Borsalino "D'Aubignac" size 6 1/2 is equivalent to say a 7 1/2 in the USA.
D'Aubignac A1.jpg
The felt is "Bismuto" and the ribbon color is "Opale". These are the "imposter's" measurements: the brim is 5 cm, the ribbon is also 5 cm and the open crown is 13.5 cm.
D'Aubignac A.jpg
This is the story of the hatter D'Aubignac who lived in Alessandria-Italia instead of Drancy-France :)

I was more than happy on how this roll of the dice turned out. Borsalino Feather with 2 ⅝” bound brim and 5 ⅛” open crown (I was surprised it was that low because it doesn’t look low). It still has basting stitches on the ribbon. The felt is very thin and easily shaped dry. This is borderline too shapable as a breeze or the lightest touch can reshape the felt. Size 5 French Point / Punti or 7 ⅛ US.

7 3/8 US size or 59cm. The brim is between 2 ¼” and 2 ⅜” wide and has a felted / Cavanagh edge. The open crown is 5 ½”. The felt is just about my idea of perfection as it’s thin and light but with enough body to hold a shape. Truly molds like clay. The sweatband has been replaced at some point, but the new sweatband is thin and supple.

That is so gorgeous: Borsalino at its finest.

Also very nice. I think it might be the Savoy model.

Not that we know of, Bob. There are not enough examples of it to say anything about general age really.

Thanks Stefan. Here is what the tag is attached to -- listed as a cowboy hat. It's going to need a naphtha bath most likely.

I'll dig behind the sweat band when it arrives and report back.

The felt "ribbon" seems unusual.
