The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

Borsalino Panama. 3 1/4” brim and 4 1/2” crown at the front dip.

It’s a size 62cm 7 3/4 US, but in true Borsalino fashion it was too small for my 7 5/8 head. I confirmed it using a 7 5/8 band block, but that of course made the brim get all wonky. With the band block in place, I reflanged the brim on a 7 3/4 LO flange. The brim still needs some work.

Overall, I’m not impressed. The sweatband ends don’t butt together; rather, one end is lucked under the other for about 1/4 inch. What a cheap way to do it. It’s worth what I paid, but I pity the people who paid full retail thinking a Borsalino must be a quality hat.

I'm sad to say I've had the same experience you had, Brent. I did own a Borsalino panama once, but sold it on for the same reasons you've stated: the quality one might expect just wasn't there.

Makes my heart go a little faster, Randall. That's a beautiful hat. Can we see the label?
Thanks, Steve and Stefan.
The light colored bound brim is 2 3/4 with a 4 3/4 crown at the front pinch.
This label is hand written in pencil. There’s another label on the other side, but it looks just like this one. Don’t know what that means. from this pic the size can’t be seen, but it’s a 7 3/8 that’s shrunk down to my 1/4 long oval melon. So compliant and comfortable. It easily conforms to the head as it’s being placed on.
All hats should be this way.

It's sometimes the case that they don't have a label at all. It's rare, but it happens. It's only known for hats for the American market. I've got one as well. Doesn't take away from the hat, which is just as gorgeous.
