The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

My contribution to this bevy of beautiful Borsas (I have this thing for using alliteration when I can :)) This piece is called "Biver" which, if I may take poetic license by assuming it means "Beaver." Not certain of the approximate dates of production (I'll leave that up to to pros like you!) However, it is a Taupe color, much lighter in weight than it appears, with a stretched brim length of 3 1/4 inches, material covered leather sweat, and oh, those gills! Matches well with my vintage olive green Canali Alpaca wool overcoat.

On the noggin...
Very nice hat, Jack. Reminds me of Brents' Serikon in its style. My guess is its a bit more modern hat; seventies perhaps.

Borsalino Diamanté 2 1/8” brim. Only in Borsalino could a size 63 perfectly fit my 61.4 cm head. Great longer hair finish. It’s stingier than I normally prefer, but it’s a nice little hat.

Nice catch, Brent. I haven't seen Augusta line hats with larger brims. The felt looks really smooth.

I love it, Doc! Looks like a great autumn hat, and I agree: the GILLS!

The hat is a real luxurius Borsalino and I really like it.
"Biver" is the Italian pronunciation of beaver and I see on the paper tag it was made for the US market.
"Condor" is the color and this model was rarely seen here in Italy, some unfinished, very similar was in a corner of the Borsalino factory during our visit (Steve and me) of some years ago.
It is almost my size  and I have a little envy...
Bellissimo!
I kinda figured this would pique your interest, sir!! You and I share the same noggin size, by the way, as I often drool over the pieces you display! Thanks for the info here! Had to do a little inside adjustment. However, I was told it could also be Hare. No matter. It is a unique piece indeed!

When a hat is beautiful, interesting and little seen it is a duty to make one's own appreciations as a passionate. No manufacturer of Italian hats would ever have told you what is actually present inside the mixture to make "that" felt. This has always been a very well kept "secret", but talking, here, about felt is always a minefield due to the too much different offers of this current material. However a splendid Borsalino!

A nice diamond, Brent. Short brims suit you just as well as wider brims imo.

Today i received this vintage Borsalino. Paid 17,50 euro including shipping for it. I think it's a very nice hat. Very soft felt. Can someone tell me more about it? View attachment 187302 View attachment 187303 View attachment 187304 View attachment 187305
For the money you can't go wrong, Marcel. M Rosmarino means Misto Rosmarino (misto is mixed felt). This type of label gives the manufacturing date as 1979. Very early hat showing this type of liner, which is usually found on mid eighties hats.
Nice find!

Dank U wel.. (thank you very much)
Danke schön, Marcel [emoji4]. I've always loved the way the Germanic languages of Dutch, German, Danish, and English have combined so if we have an understanding of one of them, we can develop an understanding of the other.

Marcel the Borsalino in "Rosmarino" color was made in the historical factory of Alessandria before Borsalino family sold the brand and factory to two Italian families. "Rosmarino" is rosemary and it is a color not see so many times. the felt is the Borsalino medium hair most of the times fantastic, the shape is the "fashion" in hat during the late seventies, early eighties. A good catch for the price

Daniele originally posted photos of this one back in December 2018. I was lucky enough to buy it at the time. Sadly, when I checked the old posting, Daniele's photos are no longer available, so here are some new photos.
Borsalino Qualiá Extra Superiore: colour is called biber, type is Cecosca.
Daniele told me that it is from the late 40s, but probably is made up of materials from before WWII.
For some reason, I usually wear it with the brim up, but it works just as well with the brim down.
It's one of my favourite Borsalinos and, indeed, one of my top favourite hats.

That is gorgeous, Steve. I may have seen it before, but you can't get enough of a good hat. I tad later I suspect judging by the label, but does it really matter?

Thanks, Stefan. No, date doesn't matter with such a wonderful Borsalino [emoji4]
