Last one of this weeks haul. Not the least of them too. Borsalino Export Qualität homburg in brown, size 58.The colour is called Dattero on the label. Bound brim at 6 cm and crown at 11 cm in front. Lined with what used to be onionskin covering of the crown patch (only parts of that remain alas, because that stuff is really fragile). Liner states Qualitá Superiore. Sold by Specialhaus Globus. Mid fifties to early sixties. Great looking hat and if the last parts of the onionskin covering are removed a nice and clean liner remains.

Almost there (wait for it, Karl). Borsalino Export Qualität Gran Lusso in blue, size 57.The colour is called Mirtillo (blueberry) on the label. Bound brim brim at only 4,8 cm and crown at 10,5cm in front. Lined with transparant covering of the crown patch (unsure about the material). Liner states Qualitá Superiore. Sold by Carl Sick of Bremen. This one is a bit later and because it has a date stamp we know exactly when: 15th of november, 1972. It's not my style hat I'll admit, so this will get sold on.

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum but thought I could borrow your eyes for this hat. I am curious to find out if anyone might know more about it. The original price tag (on inside label) was $35 dollars, the first half of the serial number seems to be missing. I know Schlesinger's was a clothing store in Jersey that opened around 1919 and closed in 1985. Sorry the pics aren't great. I was excited to pick this up because it fits my fairly tiny head and wears like it's a part of me!

Welcome to the fedora lounge, Caleb. Unfortunately your pictures don't show in your post. There's a separate how-to thread at the top of the thread listing.

Nice bunch of hats! That is an epic haul from the vintage stores!
There's even a few that would fit me...:)
And me, the 57s or 58s, but I'm penniless at the moment, a cheap ecig charging wire frying my son's Samsung, just drained the last resources, I just had the 'it's not guaranteed if you use another brand of charger' speech in the electrical store. Someone will enjoy them.
Stefan, Congrats on the great haul of Echter Borsalinos! They are all fantastic! It's super that there are some date stamps too!
Gentlemen, thanks for the kind words. I'll admit I was a bit taken aback when confronted with this motherlode of hats. Pleasant surprise indeed that a few were dated, because it helps with the puzzle of dating Borsalino hats.
As I did promise a few members here recently I'd keep an eye out for them, I couldn't leave them there. PM me if you're interested in one (or more) of them. The Mirtillo is gone already and the Selenio and Mogano I'll keep for myself.

Well, if you've read this forum and the borsalino thread especially, you will know by now that it is almost impossible to date earlier borsalinos exactly (unless they have a date stamp). The form and layout of the label can give you an educated guess, but that's about it. The label in your hat has no serrations and has rounded edges, which means it's sixties at its earliest. It does have the colour name (Lauro - Laurel) typed on it, so not very late sixties, when the names started to disappear from the labels. That would mean early to mid-sixties for your hat. There are members here with more knowledge about the styles than I have who can tell you more perhaps about that.

This one haven't posted before. It's waiting for the third hat-exchange with Daniele. Borsalino in grey (Bismuto), Suprema Quality, size 60. Bound brim 5,5cm and crown 11cm at the pinch. A bit unusual to see a colour combination more common to homburg hats on a fedora, but I think it works.

Super Borsalino, Stefan. I haven't seen that liner logo before. Glad it's going to a good home.
