Nice, Anthony. Scratchin' that Borsa itch?
I've yet to add a Borsalino to my collection. Yours are beauts.
As are Tommy's...
Export Qualität Borsalino from the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Bad Homburg, Germany hat collection, probably latter 1950s. This hat was made for the German market and is in good condition.
this looks very close to my thin ribbon above ... you think they are of similar lineage ?
the interiors are pretty much identical
thank you sir ... your Racine has actually planted a seed
I handled one at JJ a while back and wasn't a fan ... but yours looks like a completely different hat ... really resembles the Stetsonian ... in your pics anyway .
... is that far off ?
Yes it looks that way. You start to see just Export Qualität in the late 1950s. The hat I just posted has both Echter and Export Qualität and is probably around mid 1950s. The older ones only have the Echter designation. By the way super Borsalinos!
Nice acquisition!Echter "Nutria" Borsalino from the Gotisches Haus (Gothic House) Bad Homburg, Germany hat collection, probably early to mid 1950s. This hat was made for the German market and is in very good condition.
Nice acquisition!
It looks super.I may have posted this one earlier in this thread, but if so I can't find it. This is a "Savoy":

I purchased it from FL's Bond, knowing it would be a little small for me. Never was able to stretch it enough. Finally I sent it off to Art Fawcett, who stretched it to size 7 and replaced the ribbon with a dark blue sporting his signature silver stripe. It's a pleasure to wear.
Quite a soft felt, and dense. It's a dark gray -- in low light conditions it looks almost black. It looks super.
