Request permission to join the Brotherhood now that I own a 50s velour finnish Borsalino.

(The brim isn't quite as narrow as it looks in the picture.)

Nice one! What colour is it, actually? Looks brown in the first pic, but navy blue in the second.....

PS: Didn't realise they made Borsalinos in Finland (as in "a 50's velour finnish Borsalino" :D:p)!

Thanks. Too bad I was charged an extortionate amount of import VAT.

It's brown. The colour changes depending on the lighting (sometimes it's almost grey) but the first picture captures it reasonably well.

Borsalino Mascotte - Blue

I don't buy many hats from eBay, but I couldn't resist this nice Mascotte in really soft, light, navy blue felt. Other than a little slit in the covering over the liner and a couple of teeny tiny moth divots (have to really try to see them) the hat is in super condition.

Very nice, David! I was watching that just for the heck of it and it went into a bidding war of sorts, huh? I'm glad you got it!

randooch - Thank you. A while ago I saw Delectans post a really nice blue hat and I've had my eye open for one ever since.

Aureliano - Thanks. It's funny, I set a snipe when this was first listed and didn't pay much attention after that. I expected to be outbid, because I know there is always the Borso Luxury Tax to pay. I was rather surprised to see that I'd won (only just as it happens!)

Lefty - Thank you Lefty. The hat hasn't left my head since I gave it a good brushing and steaming this evening.

zetwal - It is indeed a thing of beauty. I'm loving it!

Alan - Thank you! I see you have a rather nice blue hat of your own heading in your direction.

I posted these pics on another thread but thought one of you might help with an approximate age on this soft beauty. I am sure it does not have signifigant age but the color and feel are just indescibable. This gray/sage colored "Pleuchete", is fast becoming a favorite!

It's appears to be a modern one (new factory). If you can post a photo of the paper label behind the sweat we should be able to tell the production year.

Hi Guys! I would like to thank Robt Kent for setting me straight on a couple of borsos that I have listed over on ebay as of yesterday. 40s and 50s vintage fedoras, I was using that dating system that only works on post 1970s borsos, and so I had them listed as a 1914 borso, and a 1920s borso.
You can see them over there on ebay, my ebay name is julie-tom....
best to all,
Thomas Clark

I could not find a tag behind the band anywhere. I did not want to pull any threads loose to look under the liner. Will just have to guess at a time frame.
