The BORSALINO BROTHERHOOD

A retail store called The Hat Guys located in Oakland, California went out of business and their stock was liquidated. Mostly Biltmore and Borsalino. I’ll be listing them on eBay time permitting. Here’s the first couple:

Montecristi with a 2 ⅞” wide brim. Fabric sweatband and a very tight weave. It feels more like linen cloth than straw. The size is 62cm and it fits true to size (fits me well), it’s too nice of a Panama for the likes of me:

Navy blue with 3” wide brim. Nice felt, but not exceptional…just what you’d expect from a Borsalino from this era. The sizing is pure Borsalino: listed as a US size 8 (64cm) and it fits me fine with a nice light fit. I’d say it’s probably closer to 7 ⅞ than 7 ¾, but maybe bling oval head allows me to wear it without issue.

I have some for this thread too, most in special felt finishes. All courtesy of my good friend @deadlyhandsome who kept the hats safe and sound for a looong time and made sure I'll get my hands on when circumstances allowed to-can't really thank him enough!!

Misto Legno, which at a distance looks like brown. Creasing is reminiscent of older times than the hat has seen, but besides us no one really knows and showcases better the felt's properties

As if there was ever any doubt, vintage hats really are much better.
2 ½” bound brim and 5 ½” open crown. Soft thin felt that is easily shaped without steam. Size is 7 ¼ US or 58cm.

I don’t think I’ve seen a hat sold by Rogers Peet that has been disappointing.
The colors on that one are beautiful.

Borsalino Centurion in grey (or is it green; forgot to ask my wife :D) called "bruck", which is the first time we've seen that colour. For Borsalino that is an odd name, so I wonder if they outsourced this "centurion" line. Size 57 with the bound brim at 5,5cm and the crown at 10cm at the center dent. Nice enough hat, but it won't be staying and that's why it's photographed against a different background.

I see a bit of a brown grey. And greenish pewter ribbon. Nice hat.

Borsalino Landasca 40 1/2 homburg in Dattero colour. Size 56 with the bound brim at 6cm and the crown at 11cm at the center dent. Dattero is such a great colour that I had to buy this one. It is very soft, which is unexpected for a homburg, and has a lovely hand to the felt.

Another great one! Is the liner stitched in twice?

The lot was poorly described and the seller had very little desire to communicate: a gamble, but every now and then you have to try your luck.

This was inside a black hat, probably German, invisible in the mess of photos.
I wish I had better luck with the size, but I'm happy with it. :)
Mirtillo 9.jpg
Borsalino Giuseppe e Fratelli size 55 cm or 4 french points.
Mirtillo Interno.jpg
The felt color is "Blueberry" and the model designation is "900"
Mirtillo etichetta carta.jpg
The logo used on the lining is very old, but not the hat which is relatively recent, it could be from 1974, interpreting the Borsalino paper labels as fortune tellers.
Mirtillo 2.jpg
Sold on the German-speaking market, you can see the wording on the sweatband, it has no store mark.
The felt is magnificent in terms of touch and thickness, as malleable as an old Borsalino, with high-class finishes
Mirtillo 1.jpg
The ribbon and brim edge are the same color and match the color of the felt.
These are the measurements: the brims are 6 cm, the ribbon is 4 cm high. and the open crown is 13.5cm.
Mirtillo 4.jpg
For everyone with a head that fits the size the hat is looking for a home.

Well that is one unusual color. Very nice and a great bonus!
