Excuse the pollen, I dropped it in the daisies!
I have a date question for you knowledgeable people, here's the sticker:

Does that mean made in 1999? And does color 0411 have an official name?
Also, I have a second borsalino on the way, here's the sticker. 1982?

Welcome to the lounge. Nice looking hat. To answer your first question: no. Only for a certain type of label on Borsalino hats do the first numbers indicate the year of production and it's the type of label you posted from the second hat. So that one is indeed from 1982.Hello, first post. Here's my membership card:

I bought this Borsalino because it was the first one I saw in this configuration.
Then the size was the right one, perhaps with a little luck.
So alas it seems not to be.
Borsalino Antica Casa - Augusta size 6 (french point) or 59 centimeters which becomes a 7 3/8 in the US. A little tight
The felt is a Misto Ematite with a Piombo color ribbon.
I have never met an Misto of this color (Ematite https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hematite) with a very short fur felt finish and with two vents on each side.
The color Piombo ribbon is pleated and the hem of the brims decorated with the same color.
The measurements of this beauty are: the brims are 5.5 cm. the ribbon is 4 cm high. and the open crown is thirteen centimeters.
Each side of the crown has two vents and has the same characteristics as a recent Panizza Steur found recently, also sold in Sicily, with slightly furry felt and four vents to mitigate the heat of the Mediterranean island.
Bismuto is a ubiquitous Borsalino colour designation. It can be worn with almost everything. Congrats on it in your collection.I received my second Borsalino, and bismuto is a strange color. Against grey it appears brown, but worn with brown it appears grey. I guess it's quite versatile if you want to avoid wearing a matching hat!
Brim is 6.5cm, my preferred width. Felt is materially thicker and stiffer than my blue one posted a few replies ago.

If anyone asks, tell 'em the color is called "brey", i.e. half brown, half grey. Who's gonna' question that?I received my second Borsalino, and bismuto is a strange color.
