So, with the sticker, I'm surmise that this is from 1976?

It's fairly low crowned and tapered, I don't think it's much higher than 5" open, 2 1/4" brim. All in all though, a nice hat. It could use a cleaning, but no moth damage. My first Borso will definitely not be my last.

I haven't worn a modern Borso but my understanding through this forum is the vintage ones are heads above in quality (so to speak).

I have, and I can tell you that, while the modern ones aren't quite made to the same price point as the older ones, they are fine hats and because the stiffener hasn't been broken up over the years, you can put a decent crease in it.

For sure, they are NOT junk and the people who say they are, well, they've never handled one or they're trying to impress you.

That's rather quaint, as I have a quite new one in a hat box within my closet.

The Modern Borsalino I used to own, before I went vintage, would not & can not compare to the vintage hats I currently own. It's quality was quickly outshone by that the vintage hats display.

Like I like to say, Modern hats a geared towards quantity, not quality. Same can be said about other vintage items. But before this thread becomes another discussion on what is better, vintage or modern, those bases have been covered... plenty.

Borsalino Featherweight Fantesca in Rutenio

Freshly steamed after decades in its coffin. I don't think this one was removed except for the eBay photos and its a <'53.

Color M.(Misto) Sereno-like a clear sky. Sweatband looked great but has dry rot and can't be safely flexed. Another from The London Shop in Hollywood. Since I doubt they were exporting during WW2, the light blue surrounded perforated stamp with separate size puts the date back into the 30's.
