My latest adoptee showed up!
The seller crammed it back in its wedge box for shipping:


These are the only markings behind the sweat; liner is still paper-taped in place:


After 5 minutes with the kettle:


Felt is flawless, fit is a tad snug, but acceptably so. It exudes an unidentifiable vintage odor, though, so into the bucket-full-of-paper it goes for a few days.

Mine is Augusta, which if I understand rightly is a more ordinary grade, but the felt is great, thick and strong as you describe, and takes a shape nicely.
