There was a craze for Mahjong in the early 1980s; it was played a lot at my high school during the lunch recess by quite a few folk, and not just girls. I never got the hang of playing it. It may have been due to the craze for Kung Fu movies and such like during that period. Haven't come across it for years.
I watched a lot of the old Laurel & Hardy, Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, Our Gang, Chaplin silent shorts, and many others. I hated the added stupid music and extra commentary but enjoyed the gags. I still vividly recall watching a Laurel & Hardy film where Hardy crashed a plane and his spirit / ghost came out of the wreck and went to heaven, harp and all! I was watching it with my maternal grandmother, a lapsed Catholic lady born in the mid 1910s, and she was shocked and outraged by it! LOL
